Round table “Vocational Education of Youth and Adults as the Tool for Unemployment Reduction”

Within the project "Reform of Education in Serbia: Foundation of National Council for Vocational Education" the round table “Vocational Education of Youth and Adults as the Tool for Unemployment Reduction” was held at the Fair of Civil Society Organizations in Belgrade, 8th of March 2008. Introduction was given by Mr. Refik Šećibović, Ms Iskra Maksimović, Mr. Branislav Čanak i Ms Biljana Dimitrijević. More than forty representatives of vocational education schools, public administration and CSO’s as well as interested citizens took participation in debate during the round table. |

Center for Research of Information Technologies of BOS developed an online school of journalism as a part of Mingl web portal for high school population. The school has started on 17. March. 24 high school students from Serbia, will become Mingl journalists after this training, and their articles will be regularly published on the portal. >>> |

Regional School "1968: 40 Years After"
|
Belgrade Open School, Heinrich Boll Foundation and Balkan Trust for Democracy are organizing Regional School “1968: 40 Years After” which will gather 25 talented students from countries of Formal Yougoslavia, domestic and foreign lecturers and 1968 participants for purposes of marking four decades of events which shaked Europe. School will be held in Rabac, Croatia, from 28th September till 4th October 2008. The goal of this Regional School is to contribute to the political and academic development in the former Yugoslavia and to enhance regional cooperation of selected outstanding students in the region through dialogue on the political legacy of 1968 and its contemporary outcomes. Eligible candidates have to be senior (final years) university students, preferably of social sciences, humanities or related topics, who are socially active, have active knowledge of English, and are interested in social and political development in their respective countries and the Western Balkan region.
Application time will last from 30th of Jun till 18th of July 2008, and candidates have to submit full application package which includes: - filled in the application form, which includes the Letter of Motivation; - transcripts from the university with average grade; - one letter of recommendation; - CV.

Centre for Development of Education of BOS will organize round table "Professional Education for Young and Adults for the Purposes of Increasing of Unemployment" during Civil Society Organizations Fair. Round Table will be organized in Small conference room in Hall 14 of Belgrade Fair on 8th of May, starting at 15h till 17h. Round Table "Professional Education for Young and Adults for the Purposes of Increasing of Unemployment" is part of project Public Advocating “Reform of Education in Serbia: Establishing National Council for Professional Education”, which Belgrade Open School implements with support of Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) through programme “Civil Society Associations Initiative for Public Advocating” (CSAI) funded by American Agency for international Development (USAID). |

Curriculum Resource Centre Announces Spring 2008 Sessions
|
In the Spring 2008 semester CRC is offering the following sessions:
1. Open House Sessions in broad discipline areas
The Open House sessions are organized in broad discipline areas covered by one or more CEU departments. These sessions are intended to introduce participants to CEU’s approach to a relevant discipline and new techniques for designing courses in that field. To this end the sessions will provide participants access to the facilities and resources of the CEU and the appropriate department, as well as general training workshops on course design and teaching methodology. Participants are invited to use the CEU library, visit relevant classes and meet faculty. The primary target groups of the Open House sessions are junior academics who are at the beginning of their teaching career, or mid-career and senior academics who would benefit from the above offerings.
Nationalism: February 25 - 29, 2008 - (deadline for applications: 14th January, 2008) Gender Studies : March 10 – 14, 2008 - (deadline for applications: 28th January, 2008) History : March 17 -21, 2008 - (deadline for applications: 4th February, 2008)
2. Course Innovation Sessions
These sessions intend to explore the cutting edge developments in a particular discipline. The sessions are meant primarily for senior faculty with significant teaching and research experience or for outstanding, research-oriented junior faculty. By discussing recent developments and exploring contemporary debates with CEU’s host departments and faculty, participants are expected to revise or update their courses or offer new courses in their particular area of interest. Additional training on course development is also offered by the CRC. These sessions are organized with a strong involvement of CEU departments and often will be combined with a workshop or a conference on the topic of the session. >>> |

The scholarships are intended to provide opportunities for postgraduate study in selected fields in the United Kingdom for scholars and young professionals who demonstrate both academic excellence and the potential to become leaders, decision makers and opinion formers in their home countries. Applicants must have excellent academic qualifications, a clear and precise proposal describing what they wish to study, and a fluent command of the English language.
